It was the morning of the party, and everyone person of Cambria High School would not stop speaking about it. This quite possibly might be the biggest party of the year, who wouldn't want to go. That morning this party was the talk of the high school, everyone was attending this party, including me. But if I knew about the events that took were going to take place that night, I wouldn’t have gone.
Oh yeah, my name is Areanna Roberts.
I have a best friend, her name is Michelle Jacob, and she has a boyfriend. His name Nicholas Francis, but we call him Nick. I’ve known Nick longer than I have known Michelle. He’s a good kid and treated her right. Well… So I thought.
The three of us are always together in the morning, hanging around near the front of the school before the bell rings for us to go to class. Michelle and Nick are always there before me and I’m the one who meets them. But when I went to meet them that morning, I saw that they were in a huge argument. So I didn’t bother going up to them. After school Michelle came to me , “this morning right before the bell rang, Nick and I got in to a HUGE argument and I broke up with him..” Michelle told me. I gave her a hug, and we went over to my house. “Michelle are you sure you want to go this party tonight, Nick is going to be with his boys, and I honestly won’t go if you aren’t going.” I asked. But she said that she didn’t care and decided to go.
When we arrived at the party, I had a weird tingly feeling in my stomach that this wasn’t the best idea. I also didn’t like the scenery of it, it was a Cabin in the Red Woods. The Red Woods, always creeped me out. There were too many people at this party, and before I knew it Michelle was not by my side anymore. I wasn’t worried at all because it’s Michelle. I bumped in to Nicholas a little bit later while at the party, but I was surprised that he came up and talked me, considering that he broke up with my best friend just a few hours ago. Knowing Nicholas, I would've thought he would've ran away like the speed of light. Once he came and started speaking to me, I paid no attention to him.. Until, he asked me were Michelle was. I was utterly confused, why would he want to know where she was, or even ask about her. Once I mentioned to him that she said he broke up with her he said, "Michelle and I aren't broken up...We had an argument this morning but we worked things out. Why would she say to you that we broke up!?" After hearing that I had to go find Michelle right away! But then BOOM! All of a sudden the lights went out.. So I tried calling and texting Michelle but she wouldn't reply nor answer her calls, now I started getting worried.
I left the party in such speed, that I felt I was running down the track field at school. Even though the Red Woods scared me, I had to find Michelle. I didn't bother telling Nicholas, because he's probably mad at her for telling me they broke up.
Me. Areanna Roberts, was in the RED WOODS by myself, in the early hours of the morning looking for my best friend. I was just about to return back to the party when I got a phone call... It was Michelle and she was crying, bawling. She told me where she was and I eventually found her, when I asked her why she lied about her and Nicholas breaking up she took a while to answer. But when she did, I was completely shocked to here the answer. I wish I never asked her and heard that answer.
"Areanna the only reason I said we broke up, was because I was fed up of being abused by Nick.. Every time we get in to a fight he manages to verbally abuse me, and sometimes physically.. I'm tired of it." Michelle said. She continued. "If I actually break up with him, I might get verbally or physically hurt. That's why I told you we broke up.. Sorry for lying."

When the word media is brought up, some may think of movies, advertisements, movies, social media etc. Society and Media also influences people on purchasing almost every new things that comes out. Even though these things aren't needs, we still want them. We tend to throw away something we've only had for a couple of months for the newer improved model that is released 6 months later. The vendors do a great job at selling these products.
They also have a great way of talking you in to buying things you do not need. They talk you in to buying unnecessary things; convince you and in a way they do use Rhetorical tools (ethos/pathos/logos) to convince to buy something. They make you feel guilty and bad. Make sure you think about T.V. shows, movies, billboards, magazines, video games, commercials, Facebook (and other social media), as well as advertisements.

Mental Health Awareness Discussion
Mental Health can have an impact on any persons life. You might even not know about it, the person may be acting like nothing is wrong with them. People who are affected by mental health have a good way of hiding it. But in the society that we are living in today, mental health has the most impact on youth. These kids can be as young as 11 years old to even up to their early twenties.
One in every five teenager suffer from depression. But some many might not know exactly what depression is, so. What is depression? Depression is when you feel as if you're hopeless and you cannot get out of it. You may feel angry, sad, and maybe even guilty of something. Depression can be caused by fights/arguments going on at home, a break up, or maybe even having divorced parents. But depression can be cured, and you can feel better. There's so many ways to get help, one can be counseling, maybe even taking medication. All you have to do is talk to someone.
Eating disorders is another mental health that many youths face. There are many eating disorders; Anorexia, Bulimia and Binge Eating Disorder. The first one is called Anorexia. People who deal with it lose way to much weight, because they stop eating three full meals to one granola bar a day. They do this because their mind tells them that when they look in they mirror, they look heavier than they actually look. In severe cases some people die from this eating disorder. You're always feeling weak, maybe constantly fainting, and stomach pain. The second one is Bulimia. This eating disorder is when you eat a ton, but then force yourself to throw it up. They may also be exercising constantly to work out the food. After eating they may feel guilty. Lastly Binge Eating Disorder is when you eat large amounts of food, in short periods of time but you don't feel guilty. Eating disorders may be caused from having a low self esteem, having a negative body image and/or dieting. But you can also get help as well ! Just like any other mental health, you have to talk to someone about it. Then you have to take care of yourself, and from there slowly recover and get back to your normal eating habits. Yes it will take time, but it will be worth it.
Youths should not be worrying about what other people have to say about the way they look. If you are happy with your lifestyle, don't let no one tell you otherwise. You are in control of your own life, do not let anyone come in to your life, and start telling you what to wear, what to eat and who to talk to.

The Book Thief Reflection
In the novel The Book Thief you realize that some parts of the book are based on or similar to actual historic events that have happened. The author (Markus Zusak) really has a great and strong understanding of past historical events because he mentions many of them in this book. I believe this because he talks about World War II along with Hitler and the Nazi’s. It also seems like he is really fascinated by this event because he writes a great book on it, with such amazing detail. With such great detail you could think or can believe this story was true. At some points in the book the author could make you feel or imagine, if you were Liesel and make you think if you were in her position or in the same situation what would you do or react. At some points I had to stop reading and put my book down to think about Liesel and her feelings and imagine what she is going through. The author Markus Zusak makes it somewhat easy for you to connect and/or relate to many of the main characters in this novel. One character that stands out the most that most would say they relate too would be Liesel. In the beginning of the book, the reader learns that Liesel sadly is separated from her family. Her little brother dies on the train and she is forced to leave her mother. During this part of the book, some can relate to either having no choice but leave someone they loved and cared. But like the saying goes, "everything happens for a reason" if she hadn't left her family, she wouldn't have met her vest friend Rudy, Max, Rosa or Hans. But Liesel is just one of the many characters the reader(s) can connect/relate too in The Book Thief.
After reading The Book Thief I asked or thought to myself on why the author chose this specific time (World War II) to have this as one of the major events and/or settings in the book. I think that the author chose this part of history/time for the novel because, it makes everything happening in the book seem more realistic. An example would simply be Hitler (Furer) ruling/taking over Germany. During the parts of this novel where World War II is mentioned, or even where an important event is happening in World War II, it's so much alike to the actually World War II that took place decades ago. One thing that I thought of that made it seem like a great connection; the only reason Liesel didn't die at the ending of the book is because she was reading her book. This automatically made me think of Anne Frank, just like in World War II she went in to hiding with her family, and being that Liesel was reading her book in the basement is nearly the same situation as Anne Frank.

Uniforms
When the topic of bringing uniforms to public schools it usually is followed by an argument or some may say a debate. Many people agree and want uniforms at public schools, but also some may disagree as well. But in opinion personally I agree with uniforms coming to public schools.
In my opinion I think that if uniforms were brought to public schools it might make students feel better. When I say that, I mean that since everyone would be wearing the same exact thing no student will feel neglected. With all of the name brands out there like; Adidas, Nike, Guess, Levi's, etc. Many students might feel intimidated because other students might always be wearing name brands and then there are other students not wearing name brands.
Also students take a long time getting ready because they have to choose between multiple outfits to where to go to school, and that takes up time which may cause them to be late for school.
Another reason uniforms are a good thing because it saves water because you'll have less clothes to wash so your laundry load is smaller. so you'll be saving some money.
It also makes students dress more classy; dressing inappropriate not school appropriate. Students are dressing more like they are going out to parties when coming to school. It also helps the staff at school know which students are attending the school from students that aren't attending the school.

Video Game Effects
Video games have been around for quite a long time now, the first video game was released around the early 1950's and to see how the graphics from then to what video games look like now is incredible. One of the first games that got released was Pacman and looking at that game and comparing to one of the most popular games now like Grand Theft Auto, you can see how graphics have changed. But with games in this generation many include a lot of violence which is why they are rated M for mature. When playing games like GTA (Grand Theft Auto) & Black Ops they include guns, and robbing.
Sometimes when kids are playing these games they might think that if it's in a game it's okay for me to do in real life, or even just giving the player(s) ideas. The impact that these type of games are having on children its not a really good one. Video games can cause a big distraction when it comes to school, some games are addicting that once you start playing you don't want to stop playing it. By the time most people are done playing, it might be too late to start homework so instead they go to sleep. This is how student grades might be dropping and then they start doing poorly in work.
But not all video games are rated M, and include violence. There are some good video games that teach children things. Actually not even teach they are just good games in general and rated E for everyone.

The Book Thief Blog Entry.
The setting where The Book Thief is taken place is in Nazi, Germany 1939-1942. More specifically, Himmel Street in the town of Munich. During this time World War II is being taken place. Liesel Meminger which is the main character, is living on Himmel Street with the Humbermans where she meets the Stieners. Liesel becomes best friends with Rudy Stiener, but she also becomes friends with many other characters throughout the book. The Book Thief takes place not only on Himmel Street , it also takes place on Munich Street. Since the time that this story is being taken place is World War II, it has much impact on the book. Hitler is ruling everyone, he created the laws. Also many innocent people are dying. I think the author chose this specific time and place because you can make yourself believe that this would actually happen. The author emphasizes everything to make the reader think that whatever is happening, is real.
